Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
I want to take the bumpers off my fiat and either leave it bumperless or put on the abarth style blocks (what would you all do?) and once I take the bumpers off does anyone know of a kit for the blinker lights?
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
I sell a kit that puts round lights in the holes for the bumper shocks. Pics and details at my website; http://www.allisonsautomotive.com
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
sweet! Suppose I put on bumper blocks, do you have a kit that has abarth style blinkers or anything of that sort?
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
not yet, we're working on fiberglass bumper blocks but they won't be ready for about a month
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
let me know when you get them in, and the pricing
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
I'm thinking about doing that same thing ... Is it legal to ride with out a front bumper in California?
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
hmmm, cool verses legal. or performance verses legal.... age old question, 'eh?
yeah, mark. we are waiting patiently for those pictures of the bumper blocks.

Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
Im pretty sure its legal here in cali... I could have sworn they got rid of the bumper safety laws
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
hahahaha!Calif getting rid of safety laws? What have you been smoking?
Bumper blocks are in the works, but not first on the priority list unfortunately. Probably about a month away.

Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
I like it better with out the front bumper ... So here's the question, once you convert the turn sig to the old bump mounts, can it be converted back with out hassle? .. Just incase CHP decides to go crazy with those fix it tickets!
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
I. Didn't say safety laws, I said bumper laws. Its not required to have bumpers on certain vehicles.
The bumpers are bolt on so you van replace them with the ten of a wrench any time

Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
here is the law from the Cal DMV site;
Passenger Vehicle Bumper Requirements
28071. Every passenger vehicle registered in this state shall be equipped with a front bumper and with a rear bumper. As used in this section, "bumper" means any device designed and intended by a manufacturer to prevent the front or rear of the body of the vehicle from coming into contact with any other motor vehicle. This section shall not apply to any passenger vehicle that is required to be equipped with an energy absorption system pursuant to either state or federal law, or to any passenger vehicle which was not equipped with a front or rear bumper, or both, at the time that it was first sold and registered under the laws of this or any other state or foreign jurisdiction.
Amended Ch. 451, Stats. 1973. Effective January 1, 1974.
Now, I've had my front bumper off for at least 3 yrs and haven't been stopped yet

Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
that's what I was trying to get across, my memory failed me though...
Its that cars that dont come with a bumper
Aren't required to have one and the CHP doesn't know if our fiats came with bumpers or not because they look nor
al without them

Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
since I have lights in the original bumper shock holes, I'll fool all of the CHP? Maybe, but having rear bumpers is a dead give away that the car had bumpers.
Re: Removing the bumpers, what to do with lights?
you said yourself youve fooled them for three years
