New owner so I hope I'm using the correct verbage for this part. Our 80model 2000 is missing the cover for the cam gears. Is this piece commonly left off, kinda looks like it should be covered. Looked in the parts for sale section and didn't see any available. Lots of Alfa experience with the chain drive cams contained in the cam cover so not used to seeing the drive bits exposed. Cover it quickly, Kinda optional, please advise.
Regards, Darrell

Re: Cover for cam gears.
many run without it.....going for that look. You do open yourself up to exposure being around exposed spinning parts. Belt cover is easy to come by. they are somewhat year specific.

Re: Cover for cam gears.
A stone or pebble under the timing belt sure can ruin your day... I would get one for sure. The 2 liter engines even had covers in the back, totally enclosing the belt. Most people throw those rear covers away, as they make changing a timing belt or water pump a huge PITA. But I would definitely get the main cover.
They are displacement specific, as taller engines use taller covers. Most are plastic, either yellow or gray, but you can paint them any color you like.
