BRAKE LINES- FRONT WHEELS

Post by mrH20 »

Hello,
I was removing my old rubber brake lines on the front wheels and in doing so broke off the metal brake line from the rubber line. My question is, can I purchase the brake line along with a pressure fitting and nipple to my new rubber brake hose, or do i have to replace the entire metal brake line from the master cylinder? It would be so much easier to just splice into the existing broken line with a pressure fitting and nipple then replacing the whole thing.
Thank you so much for your help.
Cheers,
Geo.

brake fluid loves to absorb moisture from the air. that begins a rust process from the inside out, and is also one of the prime reasons many recommend bleeding the entire brake system every other year.

are you still working with the 30 year old brake lines?

i would suggest replacing the line all the way back to the master cylinder, and prepare to soon be doing the same job at the other three corners.

bleed all four calipers when you are done with any line replacement.

if you want to use the old brake line, you would have to flare the end with a tool to remake the bubble flare. If you try to do that you may find the old line keeps cracking if it's that weak already.
