Hi George,

So sad... Such a waste.

Glad you're ok.

George,

Most importantly, Im glad that you did not get hurt. That said I also know that this is a pain which can hurt as much as a physical injury. I'm truly sorry for what happened your beautiful car.

Stand your ground with the insurance company... And make them do right!

George,

Glad to hear that you are okay. To echo the sentiment, the car can be replaced but you can't. Maybe you can buy the maroon one that Craig's friend has for sale!

Wow, sorry to hear it.

Ever since I was rear-ended (in my Tacoma, so I guess "size doesn't matter" LOL) I act in my car or truck as I do when I am riding a motorcycle: when coming to a stop, keep clutch in, in gear, at least until a car or two has arrived behind me and stopped. Always setting myself up at a stop so I leave room for an emergency "out."

This is basic rider safety stuff you learn when you take a motorcycle safety course, and it sure beats injury and/or a crushed vehicle.

I dunno, George. With some of the rust buckets you east coasters try to salvage, i'd say you've got a fixer upper there. From an autobody guy, here are some observations. You've gotta like unibody. front and rear crumpled, but the passenger compartment in tact. This, boys and girls, is why you survive in a unibody car. Next, look at the door gap...relatively unchanged inspite of the depth of rear damage. Even the windshield isnt cracked. You gotta love these cars. Find a good body guy with a frame machine, cough up for a few body parts, a gallon of bondo and paint and you should be good to go.

Thank you all for the kind words. I'm resting up at home. Craig was right. Broke the seat. Smacked my head on the rear view mirror (Yes it broke) and bruised up my shins. Suffered a nice case of whiplash. But don't worry, the 17 year old girl told me she will pay for everything.
The woman that I was pushed into was not as forgiving. Boy did she give that girl a dressing down.
Never had a car totalled. I don't think this one can be repaired. A shame since it only had 58,000 original miles. Bummer
