1979 hard top
Re: 1979 hard top
There really isn't one answer to your question. I've seen them advertised from "come and take it" to silly numbers like $750 and $900.
Is it in decent shape? Does it have the hardware for attaching it to the windshild header and to the back? Is the plastic window clear? How about the gaskets that seal it to the body?
So if you really want a hardtop than its worth so much to you. On the other hand it isn't likely the seller has folks lined up at his doorstep with money in their hands. It's a very thin market, and it's not like he could ship it. So consider the condition and the ancilary parts, bring cash and make him an offer. He'll probably take it.

Re: 1979 hard top
Depends what brand of hardtop it is. The aftermarket stuff (SnugTop, Smoothline, etc) varies in price with ugly three-window tops at the bottom end for a couple hundred in good shape to double that for a nice single-window Smoothline. The expensive ones (typically $500-1000 depending on condition) are the original Pininfarina tops. These are the OEM factory tops that are getting tough to find, especially in nice shape. A genuine PF top should have a Pininfarina badge and serial number inside it. All tops will fit all years, so don't worry about that.

Gee, I found a Smoothline hardtop as well...... In my garage !
Yes. There is a huge difference in quality among the brands availe.
$300 seems to be a decent price.... if it's all there.
