1982 Fiat Spider Brakes - Pad clips

Post by Bravo124 »

I'm a new owner of a 1982 Fiat Spider 2000. I'm in the process of doing a full brake job with new OE rotors, calipers and pads. I have two manuals (the Fiat Shop manual as well as Brooklands), but none of the two specifies the number of pad clips to use and their position. Can anyone help me with this information please.

I was talking about the longitudinal clips not the wire type ones. Please refer to the photo. The clips that I received from IAP are not like the one piece long clips as seen in the picture. Apparently 1982 models no longer use the full clips as seen in the phtoto but use small (individual) clips and I am not sure if I am suppossed to use two clips per pad (one top and one bottom), or just one. Top? or Bottom?

Thank you for the reference to the shop manual pages. I have alredy checked the manual and in their photos they are also using the old full size longitudinal clips. There is no reference to the small individual clips in the manual and I am assuming that the manual was written prior to the change to the new clips. IAP makes a clear distinction in their catalog for the category of clips to order for prior to 1980 models - full clips, and post 1980 models small individual clips.

I've got an 80 it is uses the one piece springs. IAP catalog says 2 springs per caliper, which is the same as the older style...one per pad.
