Perforated Aluminium For 1969 Style Console Top

Post by jimmycakes401 »

I got a 1969 top console for my Fiat. Is has a built in center speaker and the perforated aluminium has a puncture in it. I can bang it back in gently, but it will still look weird in that spot. Anyone know where I can get a fine perforated aluminum sheet? Doesn't have to be identical.

You might try any local hardware store, look in their decorative sheet metal department. They usually stock an assortment of home grille materials with different patterns, just pick the one you like, cut to match.

Here's an example...

I have some of that. But the perforated sheet metal on the Fiat's is more like screen. Really tiny holes. I'll try and post a picture later.

Here is a link to McMaster-Carr. Give it a look to see if this is what you are looking for.

There are several types of material, hole size, hole pattern and material thickness. You may have to poke around a bit.

The sheet size is probably larger than you need as well.
If you have a local Metal Supply business they may be able to cut you a smaller, more economical piece.

Unfortunately due to the internet and lack of folks doing their own metal work, I'm not sure if I will be able to find it around here. But I shall look!

Possibly. Depending on what kind of shape it is and what the price is. I'm on a pretty strict budget. I can LIVE with what I have. But the puncture will be annoying. LOL. I'm sure I won't be looking at it much. :D

I have several pieces of perforated aluminum screen that is as close to the original design as you can get. Picked them up at a craft store a few years ago. Send me an email for pictures. matt.scarton@gmail.com
