Rear end yaw under accel/decel

Post by SergeantSavage »

My wife drives the car and does not experience this. I drive it much harder and the problem shows up. I say that just to indicate that it's not that bad and has to be driven hard to be a problem. When transitioning from aggressive acceleration to compression braking deceleration, there is a noticeable shift in the rear end that has to be corrrected with slight steering input. I suspect a worn trailing arm bushing, but I had it up on jacks and couldn't move anything around, nor could I see any obviously blown bushings.

Am I on the right track?

The trailing arms and panhanrd rod is where I would look. If it is something else I would like to know what it is. I would like to know what it is in any event.

I would say definitely trailing arm bushings.

try using a prybar on the rear bushings rather than by hand. Unless you're Superman, you can't exert nearly the same force as braking can

Typical symptoms of worn lower (long) trailing arm bushings.

Thanks for the feedback. I won't be able to get into it more thoroughly for a couple of weeks, but at least I know where to look.
