Arrived at Carolina Motorsports Park today,for the weekend Lemons Southern Discomfort 24.I have only met 1 of my teamates before.Here they come rolling in in 2 huge bus-type motorhomes!! One pulling a parts/supply trailer with a golf cart and a scooter.The other is pulling the Fiat.I find out one guy is a noted vintage racer,one is a HPDE instructor for Porsche and BMW clubs,one other an experienced SCCA racer!!Fast company for me.The car looks and feels great.I ran it round the lots a few times.Found and fixed a couple small leaks.Then back to the coaches for dinner prepped by one of my teammates son's award winning Italian restaraunt.Holy S*#t! A far cry from our last effort where I slept in the back of my truck,ate rolled up ham and cheese(no bread),but still had a blast.I always wondered what went on in those gorgeous coaches at the track.
Since I have no time in this car,I am first on track tomorrow for the test session,then I will get the last stint.It will probably be a wet session in the pm.Saturday the weather looks really bad,and will probably be all wet racing.Gonna be interesting

Re: Report from the races
Two things I learned from my years racing;
1) second place is just the first loser
2) go big or go home.
Good luck!

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

Re: Report from the races
You have to run a DOT tire ,with at least a190 treadwear rating.Most serious teams run Falken or Kumho auto-x tires which
barely meet the spec.We are running a summer tire on 14''Alfa and 14'' Maserati wheels. I think they are Toyo brand.
I know ...a oil and a fuel leak,go figure

Re: Report from the races
Day 2..the weather sucked this morning,and I had first stint.It was raining and water covered some areas on the track.The wipers werent working well(found out later the rubber on the blades was shot!),but I did pretty well.Kept it on the track.The car seemed to bog around 4000rpm.We played with the fuel pressure and the timing in small increments.By the end of the daY ,I had last stint and turned the second and third fastest laps of the day.We feel good about the race tomorrow and Sunday.The weather for tomorrow looks really bad.
We did have a brake lockup issue so we pulled the calipers,sanded the pistons and bores a bit and bled the system.The brakes were great the rest of the day.

The pilots use pledge furniture wax(spray on) on the windshield on the bell 206 helicopter. Water just beaded off and visibility was just fine. (at 100 mph)
