I've read through a lot of the refinishing/stripping floor threads and everyone pretty much stripped it and coated it and put some insulation down. I was just wondering if while I was in there if I should use some gap filler, weld anything, add anything. While it is all up.

if you see rust treat it with por15

I've got no holes. I have very little rust. I decided to go with Master Series Silver for the rust aspect of the pan. And then a top coat.

Heard good things about that Master Series stuff. I went with POR since i has some experience with it.

I'm about where you are. Second coat of POR tonight. They claim nothing sticks to POR so I got a their POR primer to spray on top of it.

Before I put down the sound/heat insulation material I've bought I'm planning on using the rubberized spray paint. Like the stuff on the Infomertials where the weird guy sprays the stuff on a screen door then paddles it down the river.

POR has their own stuff but it's $$. I saw it in Home Depot and I figure a couple cans will do it. Can't hurt.

Did you load anything in around the tranny bump? On mine it looked like there was some brownish putty in the seams or something. Obviously it can all be painted over. I saw all the red painted over everything when I started. I'm really looking forward to the first coat of silver. I don't know how many coats I'm doing. I'm top coating with Rustoleum Rust coat. One of the reasons I didn't get POR was because you couldn't top coat, it wasn't UV resistant (which doesn't matter here) and I read some articles about it chipping. And if that happens, I guess you can never get it off. I'm one of those guys that likes to have all his options open. I get freaked out when I hear I can't undo something. I was leaning towards POR at first. My buddy rebuilds JEEPs and he strips them down to nothing and PORs the world as he builds. They are amazing vehicles.

what are you using to wipe up/off the glue/goo with?

Turp took it right off. First I used a multi tool with a scraper attachment to chip off most of it. A rage with a little mineral spirits laying on top of it for a bit got it ready to just be wiped off.

What are you planning on doing with the air vents on the floor? Cover them? I'm about ready to jump into the same process...

The water vents? The triangles? Or those big holes? I planned on having the drains stay drains. Same with any other hole. They must be there for a reason right?

Check rear wiring bundle along its length, particularly where it passes thru rear seat lip
Unbolt heater control. Elevate and lube levers and squirt some lube down the cables
Inspect inner shifter boot (the one on the tranny, not the one on the console). Replace if cracked or missing.
If your fuel lines run inside the car, inspect and replace if necessary.
Don't obstruct triangular floor vents.
Check for obstruction or missing funnel/tube water drain near rear quarter windows

I will be getting mine back this week and I have a bit of floor/interior work to do. Two rust-outs in the rear floor pans will be repaired, new seatbelts installed. Then my plan is to buy new replacement carpet set which comes in about 12 seperate pieces. From what I can see in the pictures of the carpet, it's not backed with any kind of padding/insulation. The seller says it's not needed, but when I tore my old one out it had a thick wool-like padding under most of it. I'd like to use some of that metalic coated insulation stuff glued to the floor pans under the carpets. But would I then cut holes in it where the drain holes are in the floor pans? Any suggestions on padding/insulation?
