That ,my friend,is a fake fender flare to make it look more like an Abarth! And yes...there may be a little corrosion under there  The acronym is a take off on the group that raced 'I' cars in the 60's and 70's ,N.A.R.T(North American Racing Teams),so Scuderia F.A.R.T. was a natural for Lemons racing!!

Tony,I wont lay a hand on the car until next Friday when I show up,put on the firesuit, and drive off into the sunset!! It has been really odd for me,to not work on the car at all.I will put the Grit Racing lip spoiler and decals on the car Friday. It is definitely going on.

Here is a short video, and the only other pic I have of the completed car.My plan was to document the build of a Lemons car that kmac and me were planning. That didnt work out so I was invited to join this team, Scuderia FART.I wasnt involved in the build other than Fiat experience and getting parts. The car is located 6 hours from me,so not easy to get there to work on it.FLU member Lou Sconmiglio, did most of the build. The other guys are enthusiasts(BMW,Morgan,Porsche).I fell into a great team.

That's pretty cool! I'm curious about the rollcage. Seems everytime I see a Spider with a cage it's higher than the lines of the car agree with. Is this based on some regulation? Not being critical, just curious.. And Good Luck in the race!

Sarge,it is because of regulation although I cant quote you exact spec.We showed up with a SCCA approved Spider cage ,that was slick looking, for our first Lemons race.Failed tech!!Good 'nuff for SCCA,not for Lemons. They wanted a full halo above the tallest drivers head,We called Denise' husband,Ron, with some measurments and he brought steel tube and we built and welded it that night.Passed tech next morning,in time for the race.Lemons is a fun based org.,but they take safety very seriously...which is a good thing!! Being a convertible, they want it high enough so your arms cant get above the halo in a roll.We do have to wear arm restraints in the topless cars ,too.
