There is one of these on either side of the firewall and whatever was routed through there has been either cut or re-routed...

What was it?

Thanks

are you talking about the rubber ? if so I think that is drainage for the cowl vents by the wipers

Oooooh, I thought it was a grommet of some kind for wire(s) to travel thru the wall. Thanks!

Yep, that water has got to go somewhere. Might want to clean out those cavities if you haven't. Mine were full of leaves and debris.

They would make nice smuggeling compartments though.

It's definately for drainage. All of the 124 coupe and spyder range have them.

make sure you clean them out on a regular basis or else have your feet ready for a cold wet surprise.

Im fortunate that this one is truly a hobby car and will only come out on dry days for "road trips" We live in portland and Ive already told my wife & son we'd be going to hood river (about 40 miles) for ice cream on a semi regular basis come warm weather! Also trips to the coast (about 100 miles) will increase this summer. Last summer i rode my bike (and camped about 1/2 way) to the coast. Next summer i will be gaining weight...

Thanks for the replies. i will make sure they are clear although the PO went through the car (cosmetically) and never drove it in rain either...

as the area fills with water it will flow down the heater core inlet
and inside your car

just pull off the rubber covers and flow water down the vents with the heat box closed
let water run slowly untill it runs clear then replase caps
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

Holy cow.... those vents have rubber covers. Three spiders and never a rubber cover to be found.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Ex owner of my car wasnt paying attention on these uotlets, so he missed the fact, that one on the pasenger side is torn. Because of that reason, water was coming to cockpit. Fortunately the car spent most of time in garage. So it is usefull to check these ruber uotlets, sometime.
