Re: Atlanta area get-together
Last year we met at the gas station at the corner of US 60(?) AND GA 400,where you turn to go to Dahlonega.Anytime is ok with me,but I think we met around 9 or 10.We took 60 to Wolfpen Gap,ran acros to 129.Headed to Richard Russel Scenic Hwy.,drove over the mtns to Helen and ate lunch. We went our seperate ways from there.Plenty of great roads up here.

Well, I missed last year so if there aren't any objections, let's do a repeat. I should be able to make it there by 10:00; sounds like a great time - haven't been to Helen in a while.

Just checking, as March 10th is fast approaching, was everyone able to get their car up and running?

Mine is up and running again. I need to dial the timing back in before the drive. A bit nervous as we are not sure what the issue was/is with the ignition system. But if I break down, Craig can run home and get the trailer!

Not gonna make it. My throw out bearing started screaming like a banshee last week. Time for a entire new clutch assembly I guess. I've never done a clutch before, maybe I'll host a put-a-clutch-in-a-Fiat gathering at me house, so I can steal other's expertise!!

Well that sucks! I was really hoping to meet a few of the Atlanta area guys - I know there's more than a couple of Spiders around here. I should have some weekends available in April if you need help. I haven't ever dropped just the tranny so it would be good experience.

Clutch is easy! Get the parts and we can have that puppy swapped out in a couple hours.leftfield6 wrote:Not gonna make it. My throw out bearing started screaming like a banshee last week. Re: Atlanta area get-together
Parts have been ordered. Clutch kit, seals, new giubo, etc.
Installation fluids and appropriate grilling items will be stocked. Maybe I'll even have my 86 Bertone zombie rescue project to my house by then, and we can add trying to start an engine that hasn't been stirred in 7 years to our adventures that day.
I plan on dropping the transmission later this week and sending the flywheel out to resurface. I know this has been a point of debate on the boards, but I know this flywheel has at least 150K miles on it, and I don't know what kind of treatment/abuse she has received during that time.
I have decently tooled garage, so rain or shine we should be fine. I'll get an ETA on the flywheel and parts, and we can set a date for the get together. I really see this as more a social thing where my clutch just so happens to get done. Hopefully more fun and camaraderie than busted knuckles and curses!!

Re: Atlanta area get-together
If we want to reschedule the drive so everyone can make it, that's fine with me - always more fun the more participates you have.
However, March 9/10 is the only free weekend I have in March. My job requires a lot of weekends from time to time and of course, this is one of those times. Currently, the weekend of April 21st is also booked. Perhaps March 9/10 is a good weekend for a clutch job??????

Sounds like March 10 can be a clutch change party - still a great opportunity to get a Fiat fix for all and then we reschedule the drive in the mountains.

Re: Atlanta area get-together
Hey guys, parts have been ordered, but I can't lock in the March 10 date. I'm unexpectedly spending time in VA this week with a family medical issue. Having two parents in their 90s means always being on call, so to speak.
I may be back in time to do the March 10 date, but since I can't say for sure, why don't you guys go ahead and plan for a mountain drive that weekend. My clutch can wait.
