Re: Death of an MGB
One poster nailed it "an MG gets what it deserves". Although I doubt the effect would have been the same with the engine in the car.
In good fun. I did see a really nice restored MG in town this past weekend.

That's a typical MGB death, the Lucas wiring is notorious for shorting out and going up in smoke.

Lucas once made a vacuum cleaner. It was the only thing they've ever made that didn't suck.manoa matt wrote:That's a typical MGB death, the Lucas wiring is notorious for shorting out and going up in smoke.

Re: Death of an MGB
No cool car should suffer such fate... and just like our Spiders, MGs are cool cars...even the MGA of 1958 with their leaking, piston-burning, plug-fouling nightmare of a motor....
They should have used a 1982 Cadillac Cimarron for that stunt.... heck, they should use a Cimarron for any clip that requires destroying a car...

Lotssa good parts were left on it; looks not much different than some of the beat up Spiders that the talented wizards around this forum have brought back to life. But it sure was a pissah explosion! <{:^)

Re: Death of an MGB
You guys said it best. Cimarron=junk. MG, Spider, etc.. good stuff. I'm not sure there's much room for brand loyalty when you are talking about 30+ year old sports cars. Every time I drive my Spider I'm afraid it might do what that MG did ..haha.
HOWEVER... I might like to see a Miata go that route.
