I thought that would get your attention! I have just started the search for a new top. I would say a vinyl top would suit my needs. I see a lot of different prices but I don't know which one will fit properly . Any advice where to pick one up?

as with many things, ya get whatcha pay for. head out looking for the least expensive top on the market, you will more than likely end up with the cheapest thing available, ill-fitting and all.

i've successfully installed a top supplied by Chris Obert (he has the best instructions). I am satisfied with the Vick Auto top the previous owner installed on the '78. I've heard no ill from tops supplied by Bruce's either.

if your mind sways to canvas, i'd like to have a chance at talking you out of it.

I've the cheapo ebay deal that was $158 shipped to my house. It is NOT show quality, it is not a perfect fit, it is NOT the best top I've seen. It IS worth it for the price. It does fit well enough to keep the rain out, the wind noise is better than the old top that had no rear window. color is awesome.

there are several things that only a some people would notice upon super close inspection. those things are mainly due to the tight fit. (ie, front seam was hard to keep below the bow, sides on back really try their best to not stay flat.). If you can live with these problems for the price (I knew I could, but you'd have to see pics of my car to understand) then go for it! Otherwise, it's really not a WHOLE lot more for one from a reliable vendor.

I would recommend against "topsonline". My top is ill fitting. Way too tight. I called to complain, and was told "No refunds on installed tops." Of course, there's no way of knowing it doesn't fit unless you put it on.

oh, btw, i forgot to mention that my ebay seller "diamondmall" was awesome to deal with. I sent him a few emails before I bought it, got quick concise responses. they had a TON of color choices and I went with Buckskin, and am glad I did. the color comes wayyy closer to matching the interior than the old top did.

that really makes no difference (year of car) to the discussion at this level.

but, it does make a difference when ordering your top. be sure where ever you order from is knowledgeable enough about our cars to know the difference. also, don't skimp and order the two side cables as well.

sorry guys. it was purchased for a 70, so it works up to 78 i think.
