I am finally getting my 124 spider shipped to me. Based on pictures PO has sent, there seems to be some sort of chrome trim around the wheel arches, aft side of doors, and down the length of the midline of the vehicle similar to the trim shown in the red vehicle at the top of the page for this site.
Questions is...is this removable without damage? How? heat gun and patience (and beer)?
I am sure someone has tackled this before. Thanks in advance!

Re: Side door trim
If you're referring to the three thin pieces extending from the rear of front fender well, door, and front of the rear fender, they are usually riveted on, so if you want to remove them you certainly can, but will have 7-8 holes to deal with. Similarly, the fender trim is glued on, but usually secured at each end by a rivet.
Re: Side door trim
Thanks guys! This sucks. Was hoping they were just glued on. So these were another "dealer option"? Don't like the look of it at all. the car is dark blue and all the chrome lining everything looks too aftermarket ghetto. I don't mind the chrome in the picture of the red car in the header of this forum, that is just about enough, but to have the wheel arches chrome trimmed as well...a bit much. I guess I will have to see when it gets here. until then...
Re: Side door trim
I'm trying to remove the trim from my 79 at the moment, I don't like the look of it either... Some of them have pulled off with minimal force, but a few are on there pretty good. Trying to figure out the best way to remove them while causing the least damage to the panels... Guess I will try drilling them out.
