This commercial has been around a few months and has over 6 million YouTube views. Many conisder it to be one of the best ever produced. The new head of FIAT N.A. is apparently considering airing it for the first time on Super Bowl, but is worried about the dolop of cream portion of the ad and it's appropriateness for Super Bowl. The link is a poll where you can vote "yes" or "no". I voted yes.

I'm all for looking at hot babes but come on. All the Fiat commercials seem to revolve arround some hot babe and sex. How about some performance commercials. Tell me why I would want to drive the 500 over some other car. They need to get serrious. This whole thing about some nice looking girl is great but really tells me nothing about the 500. To me, the woman would have represented the 500 more if she would have looked a bit more like Hillary Clinton. Lets face it, the only thing good looking about the 500 are the women they have selling it. I do like the 500, don't get me wrong here, but It's not necessarily a good looking car. It's no spider. And lets face facts, if the 124 spider only came in it's original boxy form, this forum would no doubt have a lot less participants. IMHO anyway.

Sorry to be a downer. I would like to see Fiat do well in the US this time arround. So far, they are holding stride with their first visit. Except, this time their choice of car is a bit less appealing. :?

I think they made the right move with bringing first the 500... what else could they bring that would create the interest and excitement from the public here? Have you seen the rest of their line up? With the exception of the Bravo, not much to choose from for our market...

But I agree, keep bringing the hot Italian babes... but add some videos with performance orientation... the last few seconds of the ad above were great!

I think your picture says it all. That is a good looking car and would have made a nice mate to the 500 on the sales lots. :?

HMMM Mr. Fiat Salesman, I like this little 500 but I have children and need something a bit larger. Do you have a fiat that would fit that bill?

Well yes sir, I mean no sir, I mean, well not here on the lot anyway - or even in this state - or this country - possible one in Brazil somewhere or South America but not actually anthing tangible here and now. Maybe you could come back in a few years and we MIGHT have something for your needs. I gaurantee, it's a Fiat and they are really neat-o cars - er a, Sir.

HMMM Mr. Fiat Salesman, I think I will buy that car on that other car lot over there. Do you see it? The red one.

Well sir, which red one? I see lots of red ones lined up in a row. They have blue, white, black and green ones to choose from as well. So, which one exactly are you thinking about?

Well Mr. Fiat Salesman, I'm going to go over there and see which one I like best.

Now that you mention Brazil... I saw two cars there, besides de Bravo, that should make it state side... The FIAT Idea and the Palio Adventure... comfortable enough for a family, and both available with AWD...

The Palio Adventure

Interesting looking car. No shortage of vehicles in that market to choose from though. I'm debating between a used Subaru Outback with the 6 or a VW Passat 4motion wagon.

That's a good looking car. Was Fiat affraid of competition?

I'm really guessing that the real reason they only brought over the 500 is because of all the mods they had to do to it to get it to pass US standards and they wanted to enter the market ASAP. Just a guess though. :?

HMMM, personally, I would take a used Subaru over a VW any day of the week. Unless, we are talking classic VW's.
I am a sucker for VWs... old or new... but I have to agree with you... I would go with a Subaru in this case. Proven in the snow and very reliable. Brother-in-law is in his second Subaru. Not a single issue with either one.
