Seat Belt Replacement
Seat Belt Replacement
I just received the new 3 point wine red seat belts from SeatBelt Planet today, colour matches quite nicely. Now I have a question for those who have purchased these. How did you mount these? The ratcheting mechanism only had one good size hole. Did you only attqach using one bolt?

Re: Seat Belt Replacement
Yes, it will hold it, but in an event of a crash the retractor mechanism will bend forward, allowing for extra belt travel.124JOE wrote:yes one bolt will hold
Not ideal.

Re: Seat Belt Replacement
On the ones I got (different source) I was able to use the old plate with two holes ( the one that is separate from the belts themselves and is a flat bar with two holes and a slight bend) across the inside of the new braket lining up one hole with the new single hole and the other with the original second hole on the car thus securing the new belt bracket securely. Do you have and did you keep the mounting plates from your old belts? I had to unroll the belts to get the braket in and its thickness does keep them from fully rolling back up but I figured a little slack when not in use was better than a single securing point in a wreck.
BTW, I assume we are talking about a later year car where they mount beind the rear seat versus the floor?

Re: Seat Belt Replacement
yes, should have mentioned that it is a '80 with the rear platform wall mount. I do have the original brackets.
