So today Pete Ziegler and I went to the Detroit Auto Show. Chief among the many fine objects of desire was the Abarth 500. Which is a very fine automobile which would definitely be the leading candidate for my next car. Just need a place to buy and service it at
The first Abarth with a FLU sticker

The Model 40 Roadster was an amazing car.

Did they let you touch the cars? I can't wait to test drive one. Maybe in 5 years I can buy a used one.

Re: Detroit Auto Show
Thanks and you are welcome.
They had one Abarth open and essentially unattended. It was very nice. I really liked the seats. I wish they were offering more colors but so it goes.
We were sort of rushing around so I didn't get a chance to really take a lot of pics, particularly of the interior. The leather hood on the instruments was sweet.
The new Dart was also very nice. 4 wheel independent suspension and the same engine as the Abarth along with a 6 speed manual. Plus there is a dealer down the street. As close to an Alfa as I will ever get I am sure.

"Chief among the many fine objects of desire was the Abarth 500." Sorry, Karl, but looking at that picture I'm having trouble thinking that the Abarth was really 'Chief' among the many fine objects of desire...

It is a family forum...
There were many very pretty women, the young lady on the Abarth stage did her real job of speaking very well. She was confident, clear and knew her stuff. The fact that she was also an attractive young woman certainly got her the job but she earned it after that. There were many others who were as or more attractive on other stages who really were not very good at being a spokesperson.
The new Subaru was much nicer than I expected, unfortunately it wasn't open or accessible up close but it was certainly nice in the metallic blue. There really wasn't much else I liked. Chevy had a show car whose shape could easily have clothed a mid engine chassis but was likely just another FWD coupe. I wouldn't mind a a Porsche Cayman but the maintenance over the lifetime of the car would likely buy an Abarth.
