It looks like that spray-on chrome finish used for plastic. Since so many parts on the body are plastic, I bet that's what they did. I really dislike it too.

I really don't like it either. But I also recently saw a Buggati Veyron that had been somehow polished ans looked like chrome. It actually looked pretty good.

they have a pretty sophisticated chrome paint systems out there now. Chrome FX is one system. I kind of like it on the 500. Like the old audi avus show car.

They say it's a vinyl chrome foil that hopefully can be removed. In Germany you are only allowed to have a certain, small amount of chrome on a car. Imagine to be behind this one on a sunny day.
