Replacing thermostat

Post by MrWampus »

I just checked the manual but it was not specific on this question. Is it necessary to completely drain the cooling system in order to replace the thermostat? Replacing the unit looks pretty simple and easily accessible otherwise. Can I simply catch what coolant I lose from disconnecting those hoses?

Will that let air in that then requires burping the system after I put it all back together? That's what I'm trying to avoid but if I'm going to have to do that anyway, I should probably just go ahead and drain it and put fresh coolant back in.

BTW, Joe, I love your tag line. I just saw the Futurama episode a week or two ago where that came from with Bender lost in space and playing God. Not sure if that's what you meant to reference. Futurama has always been one of my favorites.

Thanks for all the cooling system advice.

BTW, the very first episode of Futurama when Bender poops a pile of bricks is when I got hooked. It happened pretty fast, and I'm not sure a lot of people caught it. But when I saw that I almost spit my beer across the room!
