FIAT Releases Pricing on the ABARTH

Post by sptcoupe »

Just got an email from the dealership where I have a deposit on an ABARTH 500. FIAT has set the pricing for the US ABARTH. Should be very competitive. Check it out at the link.

Was just talking with the dealer. There are also plans to bring in "Sport S" model. This will be a basic Sport model with the 135 HP turbo motor from the roiginal Abarth 500 sold in Europe. The plan is to position it just above or at the the Lounge model price-wise, but below the Abarth.

Did you notice on the website that the price includes a full day (at full throttle) of training on a track! Nothing like that in this segment of the market that I know of!

That would be a great daily driver - not that the current 500 isn't. Mine has just under 12K miles on it now, and is truly my daily driver 7 days a week. Just checked the "B" trip computer, and over the past 5400 miles since I reset this computer, I have gotten 40.6 mpg at an average speed of 28 mph. That is pretty close (a bit lower) to the indicated mpg on the "A trip computer", which I set at every fill-up. I really do love this car!

wonder what kind of gas mileage people will end up seeing in the Abarths. I know from experience its hard to keep your foot out of a turbo charged car. still should get around 30 though, maybe mid 20's in the city if you are boosting up hills alot..

Does anyone else immediately think of what that engine would do in a spider?

sptcoupe,
Any word on ETA for your Abarth? What color are you getting?

Kmac33 - I'm getting the white with red graphics, red and black seats (maybe leather), and possibly red 17" OZ wheels. I'll wait to see what the stock wheels look like before springing for the red OZ shoes.

I dont see the point of putting that motor in an x or a spider.

I would love that engine in the X. It would beat putting a Japanese engine into an X (as fast as they are and likely in the future due to the availability of the new install kit for the K20 series engines).

In a Spider, I am not so sure. Lots of power without any added weight might be nice. I do prefer the sound of the twin cam to the 500 motors I have heard.
