Why brass threads on the fuel filler. GRRRR!
The fuel filler neck has a brass threaded ring soldered on top for the cap I guess, but why brass? Mine is pretty well stripped/chewed up. Why oh why brass! A nice steel one would hold up so much better!

Brass doesn't spark, which is a GOOD thing for a fuel filler.

I have a good used one if you want to change yours out.
I've never seen these chewed up, I bet a PO of your car did not thread the cap on right, that's why it's like that.
