"a meat pie called a "Pastie" It is basically a pie crust shell with cooked ground beef and pork with cubed potatoes and onions inside. The shell is very crunchy and since the meat is precooked -there is very little grease."
You mean a "Hot Pocket"?

Re: FRENCH DISH
HERE IS YOUR ANSWER
From a true French Canadian who knows how to make the dish it is called "Sea Pie" and is most definately a French Canadian Dish ( as I am sure it exists everywhere).

OK you Québécois ... what's the real story behind Boston Baked Beans? Yanks think it originated in, uh, Beantown, but I'm not so sure. Is it your dish? We visited Québec a few weeks ago (absolutely lovely), and discovered that "traditional" breakfast there includes a side dish of BB. The genuine article too, not that horrible, disgusting canned crap. Also, one of the Montreal mystery writers I read speaks of beans prepared this way in her books. So who invented it? You, us, or somebody else?

On my last trip to the island of Maui, I stopped in at a 7-11 to get a drink. They had this round bread thing and it was filled with meat. It was in the Hot Dog heater and they called it a "Maunapua" (spelling). I got one to try and it was absolutly nasty in every way.
That meat log in the picture looks good though. Melt some cheese over that bad boy.
The other recipies sound tasty too.
