Electric window motors

Post by larrybarone »

I heard sound from the motors when I first tried them after repairing the damaged wires . Now no sound from either side. How do i test them now that i have the door panels off.
Is there a fuse panel in this car?
If the motors ae ng where can i get replacements?

Larry, I'll look at my manual tonight to see which fuse provides power to the window lifts. They are absolutely fused!!

You may want to consider buying a manual and a wiring diagram from http://www.spidermanuals.com/ for your 84. The Pininfarina cars are different than the earlier cars, especially in electrical wiring. I have the $19.50 wiring diagram sold here, and it is accurate. My only gripe is that you need a magnifying glass to read it!!

Larry, from Brad Artigue's site, it looks like the 1982 Spider with power windows routed through fuse position #12, which should be a 16 AMP fuse. Maybe it's still the same on the 84s?

Does your 84 have A/C? If so, you will need to disconnect the A/C duct near your left knee as you sit in the driver's seat. The fuse box is behind that darn duct. Stupid place to put a duct, IMHO!!
