Post by Blue124 »

I have a 1978 124 spider. What is the maximum wheel and tire sizes I can install without ANY modifications?

Thanks!

Mine is lowered, and I am running 15x7 wheels with no issues.Tires are 205/50x15.I dont really think you could go much bigger, but others might!

Put a lift kit on it and put on 24's. Then you can look ridiculous like those jacked-up clown-cars I see (hear) thumping around town here. What a waste of good metal.

I've put 17s with 205/40/17 on. There are some pics posted in the tire and wheel section. I've seen a Spider with 18s, but I don't know what size tire they used

the 500 wheels have a 35 offset, so you will need a spacer

It is my understanding that the bolt pattern is different. I heard 25mm. need to check it out with wheel people.

Thanks! 15's are about as big as I'd want to go so that sounds good. Great information, I really appreciate it!

the 500 has the same bolt pattern but a different offset. In a 15 you can use a 205x50 or 205x55 without any issues. I believe you can also fit a 215x50 but I haven't tried one myself

Hi Blue124, I've been running 205x50 pirelli P zero neros on 16"x7" Momo Stars with +25mm offset for some time now, the car is lowered at an average of about 30mm all round, no mods to fenders and I don't use spacers.

I've never a problem with the tyres touching anywhere except for rear inners when taking hairpin corners at pace. Maybe a spacer in the rear would solve that for me but it's very minor and only happened once while chasing a mate in his Delta one brisk autumn morning.(tisk-tisk :) )

My opinion would be to try and go with a 15" wheel as the 16's do make the car look as if it's on it's tippy toes.

I got the 16" Momos at a very good price years ago and I've worked around them.

Im confused Mark. Are the New 500 wheels not a 4x100 PCD like the Punto and New Ritmo?
