3 hours...the tranny is out. What a pain...by myself, on my back. Those top 2 bellhousing to engine bolts were a bitch! While I dropped the driveshaft I noticed that the pillow block is torn...Is that expensive?
At this point.....I WILL BE PAYING SOMEONE TO REINSTALL

Re: Tranny seals
I am having the http://www.autoricambi.us/product/DR5-4 ... E-Over-10/ installed on my '81.
MY QUESTION:
Can the rear tranny seal be replaced (if needed) during this procedure without removing the transmission? Transmission has no serious performance problems, but there is a lot of oil around it and we are not sure of the source. I keep a close eye on the GL-1 fluid level. Don't really want to go the extra labor to remove the tranny. The main reason for the drive shaft rebuild is to deal with the occasional "Clunk" sound on backing up, and some vibration that is slowly getting worse - perhaps from worn u-joints and center support bearing (the donut was replaced 2 years ago and seems fine).
We have put 8500 miles on this car since 2011 with no major problems, and I we just want to enjoy it while we can - but we want to EAT too!
Thanks!
