Fuel tank seal

I have removed my fuel tank to cleán up some corrosion and need to replace the gasket that goes under the flange, between the tank and the trunk floor. Any suggestions on replacement material?

just did this one mine
i used a window seal
a closed cell sticky foam

roof tar, window caulk, weatherstrip, W.H.Y. thats laying around the house and is cheap

I'd be worried about that stuff holding up to fuel. I found this site that sells all sorts of gasket material and only Fluoro-
elastomer and Nitrile seem so be safe for gasoline.

This seal only seals the outside of the tank, and the body of the car to keep fumes and such out. It doesnt contact gasoline unless you've got a leak in the tank or line back there. And thats a whole other can of worms

I used 3/8" X 3/4" rubber foam weather stripping from ace. Figuring if need be it would hold up to any spilled gas.
Looks mainly to be there to seal out water & fumes from the trunk.
The stuff there from the factory was just a foam gasket from what I can tell from what I removed.

yes they used a foam
i wouldnt glue it in with any caulk or puddy
just be sure the flanges are flat and straight
my forward section was bent down now its not
and its sealed

I hope they only blasted the outside of the tank and capped all holes/ports. The tank has internal baffles and the sand will be extremely hard to get it all out. Not sure how they would even sand blast the inside anyway. Most tanks are boiled out at a radiator shop.
