Re: phesant
I moved down to SoCal from the south central part of Washington state and up there we hunted everthing. I stopped hunting when I came down here, too many Californians out with guns make me nervous! Your picture sure makes me homesick. BTW, it looks like a scope on your gun, is that a rifle, or do you use a scope on a shotgun?

Re: phesant
Makes me home sick for my younger days in northern Wisconsin. Used to love those blustery November days walking corn fields and hedgerows to flush those big roosters. They were always a great addition to the Thanksgiving Day feast. And in those days, I was driving our 124 coupe and later, a 131. Great memories.

I like big game, I have a nice compound bow and a m1917 30-.06 for all the mule, whitetail and moose out my way, quite good hunting actually.

Ditto, except in my case it was PA and a 128. I'm not sure which I miss more, my "shoebox" or the Model 12 I foolishly sold The sound of cockbirds are all but gone in MD and PA, with herbicides and the end of fur. No cover and plenty of predators.sptcoupe wrote:Makes me home sick for my younger days in northern Wisconsin. Bernie,
Come on down to Texas.... we still have a few (not many though) quail left in the panhandle and down south. And I have a fine English Pointer and a bunch of shells... all you'd have to is clean birds

Man - too bad about that Model 12! I still have mine, given to me by my uncle in 1965. Lot's of rounds through her, and lot's of great memories. I do just about all my shooting with a 1968 Ithica SKB 20 gauge nowadays, but the Model 12 is still my favorite. But - I DID sell that 131. Now that was really stupid.
Ramzi - always ready for a shoot! I have actually seen some quail along many of the walking/jogging paths here in Houston!
