The Most Beautiful Fiat Based Car Ever?
I discovered this stunning car in Abarth, All the Cars by Elvio Deganello and Arturo Rizzoli. The 1963 Fiat Abarth 1000 Bialbero was based on the 850 chassis and had a 104hp 1000cc Abarth engine. The styling was by Sibona & Basano. If Fiat were to produce a car that looked like this today but a bit larger, say 160" in length, they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough.

my first introduction to Fiats was that Abarth 1000. A classmate had that, a double bubble, and a corvair monza. The 1000 is a very pretty car. they pulled the motor and put it in a 600 and went autocrossing with it. Didnt have a chance to drive it in that configuration, but rode in the 1000 on several occasions.

It'll never happen. Even if they do, they will just re-issue the name to something that vaigily resembles the car. Have you seen the new Pontiac GTO's? Looks like a mid 90's Camero. The Ford Mustang is the only one that truely kept to the equation and updated it. Heck, they still have the same rear end.
Personally, I agree with you - these cars are gorgeous. I too would love to see something retro like this come out with a new, updated chassis and ergenomic interior design. No need to mess with the skin - she is perfectly shaped.
Not to mention - I have the Dino rims on my 79. Came stock from the factory with them on. I think they ran out of the steel 79 rims and found them in the wharehouse somewhere. Lucky me.

Absolutely! I get weak in the knees whenever I see a picture of one. No telling what I would do if I saw one up close.WYSpider wrote:For me it would be the Fiat Dino spider.

Yep. This one's high on my "to get" list when I win the lottery. Dark blue is my favorite color for an Italian car. When I first moved to California in 1976, Los Gatos Motors had one in this condition for $7,000. Since I wasn't a member of the lucky sperm club, I had to settle for a TR4A.

Another view of the same magnificent car. Have you ever noticed how many parts this car shared with the 124 Spider? It was the perfect size - 162.8" x 67.3", had flawless lines and a 0-60 time of 7.1s.

Or how many parts the Fiat Dino 2.4L shared with the Ferrari Dino 246? Those two models were assembled on the same Ferrari assembly line using same engine and many parts. By contrast the Fiat Dino 2.0L was assembled by Fiat.
