I would stay away from Ebay, unless it is from a known seller with real support. I'd go to NEWEGG.com or TigerDirect.com
Yes, any ATX power supply will work. Make sure it has (2) SATA-configured power-cords, but most should, or at least come with a "splitter", which isn't bad. read the reviews from customers, and even google the part # for some other input.

For the video card, you want a PCI-Express x16 card. Don't get too caught-up with fancy features. Buy something cheap, see if it fixes the problem. Windows 7 has a cool feature that will analyze your system and tell you what the weakest point is in providing you the best "experience". You can use that when fixed to see if your system can benefit from a better card.

and follow this link for a video-card:

Newegg is good. I've dealt with them many times.

Rey, I think this is a good time to chime-in once more with a "remember, tying to trouble-shoot this via a forum is alot like guessing how old you are based on what words you're using" sort of comment.

What I've suggested makes sense based on the symptoms, but it could be wrong. Please understand this before proceeding and spending money. You may find it doesn't fix the problem. YMMV, in other words.

yes. that card is a 2.1, which is backwards compatible to 2.0 as well as 1.1/1.0, so you should be great. (are you running a 64b version of windows 7? or a 32b? doubt it matters, but curious)

the psu looks to have only one SATA connector, so order something like this to go with it and you'll be fine:

go to the start menu, right click "my computer", select "properties". Look under the "System" section, next to "Syetem Type". If it doesn't say 64-bit there, then you're running 32bit.

DOH! I wasn't thinking!

I dont think it'll matter for ya here though. a 64b card should run either. if it were a 32b card, and you were running 64b, I;d worry. but i think that card'll be just fine for you.

Heres a challenge for you maytag. Started workin my g friends tower. Its been sittin here a few months broken i guess. I fire it up , then sign in. It says it has 5 problems.
Hard drive dosent respond to system commands.
Read time of hard drive cluster less then 500 ms critical error.
39% of hdd is unreadable.
Bad sections on hard driveor damage file allocation label.
Boot section of hard drive disc is damaged.
Funny thing is after all this is read there is a button to push to purchase a repair. So I think here daughter downloaded or let some garbage get onto this computer. Im gonna try and defrag it and compress and get rid of unnecessary files.

follow those instructions to the letter. make sure it is gone, and then defrag / checkdisc.
