OK, scratching my head on this one. Putting new shoes and hoses on the "81 and the rear has a spring clip ("80 up)on the top of the outside shoes and on the bottom of the inside shoes. Plus it has the long springs (pre "80) too. The fronts have no springs at all.
I'm not the brightest, but something's not right! How many and what kind? 2 new style per pad? Get rid of the old style springs? I got to order a compensator in the morning and need to know.

my 80 has no such springs. Vicks didnt list anything either.

Autoricambi has them. Both styles. And apparently me too.

use one or the other, not both on a set of pads.

Both old and new style only need one per pad. The new style I always install so it pushed the pad in the direction of rotation, but I am not sure if it really matters.

Kinda' what I was guessing. 1 per pad pushing in rotation direction.
Should'a guessed it. Figure the comp was belly up, wife locks up the front brakes all the time and the rears have a hint of rust on the rotors. Axle supported,no fluid to the calipers.
