Who was restoring their Crommadora's recently?

Post by azygoustoyou »

Like the wheels on top of our Forum car, someone was going to place black vinyl squares after paint on the ends. Did the stickers work?
I'm interested because I want to restore a set of these. :P

It was me. Unfortunately, haven't pursued it, been distracted by other projects. The guy in my neighborhood who owns the sign company is waiting on me to provide him a template. Still plan to get around to it evntually.

Thanks for your reply,
I just got a set and was hoping I could possibly do the same with your help.

Once I do this, it would be easy to have him do multiple sets. I could have him do a set of 32 (4 wheels x 8 spokes), and then do multiple sets.. I'll try to get a set done, try them out, and then have him give me a price for what he would charge for extra sets if people want them.

You will be pleased if you use the stickers. I've tried to paint them and it just doesn't work well. The stickers are the way to go. Here's mine with two coats of primer, three coats of paint, then the stickers were applied, and then three coats of clear.

Count me in on the order if if pans out. I was planning on painting mine but if the stickers work I'll go that route.

What paint did you use on your wheels?

I used Dupli-Color High Performance Silver wheel paint. I think I bought it at NAPA.

I just finished mine and used Eastwood Vintage Racing Wheel Silver Paint. I was very impressed with it, but it was pricey.

I also taped and painted the black squares - it was a pain, but it worked well. I also clear coated them with several coats of Clear Gloss Spray from Autozone.

Looks great coming out of a paint can. Nice job :!:
How many cans did it take?

I have a nice set of these wheels if anyone is interested. :P

I bought two cans of the silver and still have about half of one left. It is very good stuff! But, it should be at $20 per can!
