Carpet from Vendor(s)

Post by Divers »

All - In the spirit of time (as in my lack of)...I have decided to order pre-cut carpet. Some of the stuff on Ebay looks good with trimmed edges. Can someone give me some help on who has the "best" carpet already cut and trimmed? I am not going the Lowes route...so no need to suggest that.

I bought a pre cut set 5 years ago. It was a "bisquit pile" I'm currently on my second set for the drivers floor. I found the stuff thin and of not the best quality. The edges came apart and the rubber backing broke down. Where it lays in the rear and on the trans tunnel is fine as is the passenger side. I have used a floor mat but the whole lot moves around and "scrunches" up before long.
I'd perhaps try and find a set with a "loop" structure to it.

I'm happy with the black carpet set I bought from IAP last year.

My 80 came with a carpet set from Bayless. It is also a plush bisque. It looks nice, but also scrunches up very easily. I don't like it.

i bought a cheap set in Ebay, can't remember the seller. OK, except that they didn't hem close enough to a few of the seams and the carpet is starting to unravel in those areas :(

I had mine professionally re-carpeted by an upholstery shop. Searched long and hard to find the exact original carpet material out of Germany. It not only looks amazing, but it stands up well. And while it was expensive, the way I look at it, that was over a year ago, and if I hadn't spent the money on the carpet I would have spent it on something else,so either way the money would be gone by now.

got mine from StockInteriors for $209. It's ok I guess. It looks good but I had to make a couple of adjustments for the seat belts.
