Old for new

Post by gudtimer41 »

Can one of you lads or ladies tell me whether it's possible to put an older-style woodrim steering wheel onto an '82 without using a different steering wheel hub? Any horn ring or button issues? I'm old school and after many older MGs, Triumphs and Spiders I'm just plain addicted to those skinny wheel rims. Besides... they're SO pretty! If it'll work, I'll gladly trade my good '82 wheel for a nice woodrim. Thanks, Ed

Yes, it will bolt right on, as long as it's from a late '72 or later. The turn signal canceling mechanism needs to have a pin on the back side of the steering wheel.

gudtimer,
If you really want a skinny stock wheel (that isn't real wood by the way - they look like it, but the stock ones aren't), I'll send you mine for just the cost of shipping.

Kevin, that would be great. It'll take me back to the time when Fangio and I made our first foray across Argentina and ........ aw, never mind. Really, I'd appreciate having it, just let me know how and when. If you have any use for them, I have a tachometer and speedometer for a Triumph TR-3. epatt@wi.rr.com
