Mechanical Fuel Pump
Mechanical Fuel Pump
Not to sound cheap I would get a new one but gota ask( Time is not on my side I could order a new pump but it takes time to arrive) are the mechanical pumps serviceable?? i'm going to take it off today and give it a good hard look . Is it common for these pumps to leak into the oil I assume theres a diaphram that could have cracked. I see that the pump can be taken apart has anyone ever had this problem and it was fixable without replacing it. If it can be taken apart that tells me that its serviceable.......Yes.....No.......Maybe.
Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump
I've had mine apart. Don't recall just what the guts look like, but on mine, the fuel would drain back, and cleaning up the check valve took good care of that problem. I would think if it is leaking fuel into crankcase will have damaged diaphram. Heck, take it apart and look.

Re: Mechanical Fuel Pump
Well took the fuel pump off and found the problem. Back on now as soon as i flush the engine and put new oil in it I will take it down monday and try again........crossing my fingers, toes and eyes........ .........on a side note I would like to thank the spider designers for providing ample room in the engine bay to make this job easier........
