If I knew you were in town we could have gotten together for a coffee. Were you driving the Fiat?
Perhaps next time.

Is that Chuck Storry's old car? He let me drive it at one of the Freak Outs many years ago. Amazing car!
It convinced me to convert my Spider to rack and pinion.

Volumex Spiders came like that. Gives it a nice, modern look that blends in with the classic styling.

That was my E30 M3 cabrio. I had imported it from Switzerland. I sold it to a guy in California a couple of years ago...it had 7k miles on it. Without doubt the most amazing car I had ever driven. I won a best in show at a concourse s well as a peoples choice.
Wish I still had her.

Yup, sure is. I had it reupholstered in leather identical to existing as well as new original carpet. It is a lot of fun to drive.

Wow, you have some damn good taste in cars

I'm currently involved in helping a friend create a 4-door E30 M3. We took the front fenders off of an m3 shell, and we removed the rear fender skins and the entire c-pillar assembly and had it grafted on to a 318IS body which we're currently doing an s14 swap into(m3 motor). As far as we can tell, there have only been 4 true 4-door M3's made world wide, and two have been wrecked. Its quite a task grafting the rear flares since they intersect with the rear door, and the rear glass/trunk mount differently on the M.

heres one of them:

why bother doing the conversion on a 4-door? The B-pillar is in a much more ideal place for structural rigidity than the coupe

Thanks for the comments guys.

boogiedude; that's quite an interesting project you have there. Do keep in mind though that there are so many differences between the 325 and the M3 to consider if your intention is to duplicate the M3. Once complete though you'll have a pretty neat car that's amazing to drive as I've said. The S14 came in 3 iterations; what's the hp for yours. My Cabrio was the 215 version (late edition).

I've had a number of unique cars over the years. I've always been interested in cars that are rare. I keep them for a few years, use them strictly for Sunday kinda drives and car shows and then sell them to move on to something different. You may also have seen on my web directory a pic of another car I had, a 1929 Model A Cabriolet. This too is an extremely rare car. Although there are thousands of Model A's still around there are extremely few Cabriolets and even fewer '29's. I completely restored this one (metal body over a maple subframe) from the frame up over about 15 years and and guy from LA now owns her.

Not sure what to get next.
Cheers,
Jim

Jim - It's nice to see Chuck's former car getting the attention it deserves. He plans to build a clone from a base Spider he picked up.

124ADDHE - My brother lives in Sicamous. I'll tell him to keep his eyes peeled for you before the snow flies.
