I picked up an 87 X today from the original owner. I bought it after seeing a picture and figured I could use some parts for my 85 X. But after arriving at the owners' house, I discovered the body damage isn't very bad. The car only has 38000 miles on it. Still have the a/c installed, interior is pretty much perfect. Got the car fired up and on the trailer without much effort. Now I think the 85 may become a donor to the 87 instead of my original plan

I, for one, would like to see pics, Mark. I'm in the process of replacing the rear wheel bearings and brakes all around on the one I bought last week. I'll have many questions about this strange little car. It doesn't even resemble a 124.

yes, hard to believe the X is even a cousin to the 124 isn't it? They sure are fun to drive, and a real pain to work on compared to a Spider

You're right about that! I opened the engine compartment lid and peeped in there, but quickly closed it for fear of something breaking. I don't look forward to even changing the plugs in that conglomeration of engine bay crap.
Much to my surprise, one of my "parts" cars is an 81 so I'll have spare parts.

its not so cluttered in there on a carburated car once you toss all the nonessentials out.
