The All Italian Car and Motorcycle Show in Alameda went great. The wife and I drove in tandem with two other Spiders. We were blessed with great weather and a ton of Italian cars! Plenty of Spiders, a few X19s, 500s, a few new 500s, lots of Alfas, a few Ferraris, Mazerratis, Lancias and Italian motorcycles.
Here are a few pix.
This one had an amazingly straight body and great paintjob!
There were actually two of these Alfas at the event. Very unique cars.
The Barchetta was awesome. Nobody could figure out why Fiat didn't keep making them - especially for the US Market.
My Spider is the silver one in the foreground...lots of questions about the car and a ton of interest over the "factory" sticker I had posted in the window. I think I had the only Spider with power windows and an automatic. The blue Alfa was of special interest to many people with lots of comments about the paint color.
It was great talking to the couple who owned the red 81 Spider with the gold pinstriping. They bought it new and it is all original except for the muffler. It had fewer miles than my Spider which has 41K miles. I think they said it had 39K. It was in pristine condition!
This Spider probably had the best bodywork of any Fiat at the show. Whomever did the body and paint should be commended. The British Racing Green looked amazing on the car.
This was probably my second favorite Alfa at the event.
This was my favorite Alfa at the event! This car was beautifully restored - you could almost eat off of the engine it was so clean. Again...my wife and Ron looking over the car. I think a few people were shocked at my wife's interest in the cars and knowledge. I guess it is less common than I thought, but it was great hearing her talking to a Fiat mechanic about fuel injection versus carburetion.
Very James Bond-esque and it was another beautifully maintained car. I couldn't tell if it was all original or a great restoration.
This X 1/9 had a great paint color. My wife and Ron (to the right of the car) were equally as impressed with it. Very nice!

Re: All Italian Car Show Pix
John,
Nice pics. It was great seeing you and your wife again. Sorry I missed Ron and his Spider. I should have mine up and running before the fall is out. I need to track down another control module for the Crane ignition. Once it is back on the road we'll have to go for a road trip into gold country.

Attached is a link pics I took at the show. I thought I had taken more than these, but I guess I got too preoccupied looking at all the other cars . I wish I had known who you guys were that attended so I could have met you - hopefully next time

John, thanks for the comment on my British Racing Green Spider, I will be sure to pass on the accolades to the guys.
BTW, if any of you are looking for someone to do body work on your car I can introduce you to the guy who did mine. He works on the side and charges very reasonable rates considering the quality of work he does. He does superb work as my car is a testament to this fact. He's definitely got the "Midas Touch" and on the plus side he loves doing work on Classic Cars. BUT, there is a catch... you would need to provide him a place to work and it must be in or nearby the SF area. He can do all the body work including repairing any rust issues (cutting/replacing metal etc) and get the car ready for painting. If you need a painter we have one who also works on the side, you'll just need to rent a booth.
FYI - When I decided to get my car painted I just wanted to get the dents taken out and a nice paint job. I searched "yelp" and found a shop and that's where it all began. Long story short, I honestly didn't expect the end result I got... the pics speak for themselves...
Here's some other pics showing off the body work -

Your Picasa link doesn't work for the pix of your car. It takes me to the login screen. The one for the car show works though! I am totally impressed with both the body work and paint on your car. You must be really proud. My goal is to achieve the same result you got though I'm doing the bodywork myself. Again, great looking car!

Yes I am proud and very happy - the only problem is I'm afraid to drive it anywhere now. I'm sure your car will come out just as nice and if not better since you're doing it yourself.
I re-posted the link so give it a try.

Steven,
Your car looks great! The beautiful paint and polished wheels sure stand out. I was too much of a wimp to drive my Spider to the show, (I'm not used to city driving).
