I cannot believe the deal I got on this Spider. On Ebay, listed as not running, but needed a battery, painted (poorly), but trim parts in the trunk. The seller said he couldn't get in the trunk, so... I bid 1000 for it, won the bid, drove from Oxford to Memphis with a car trailer and got it home. After buying a battery, draining the "varnish" out of the gas tank, and with a little starter fluid it fired right up. It has an ANSA exhaust system on it, and much of the electrical work had been done. ( I did have to do the solder fix to both rear lights, but works great now). I also had to have the radiator re-cored, but glad to have it done.
I have a lot to do on it, but have already taken it out several times, and it's like therapy. I drove one back in 97 and 98 during the summers I was in Santa Fe, and have always wanted one.
Problems I know I need to fix are a sticking clutch pedal, getting either a new or fixed hazard (the paper clip is working its mojo as of now), some grounding issues, brake light constantly on, horn not working, wipers not working, and radiator fan not coming on. The interior is not bad, but whoever had it last "repaired" the interior panels by putting large washers and screws in. There are a few more things, but I know I am getting long winded, so...
The only major rust on the car is both rear quarter window frames, which are both rusted through, so from what I have read, I need to get a whole top frame.
All in all, I am very happy with the car, and very thankful for this forum; it has already saved me hundreds of dollars, and it's good to see others that are as "bitten" by the Spider as I am.
I LOVE my Spider...

What year is your car? I assume it's a Spider 2000.
Glad to hear you are enjoying your Spider as much as I enjoy mine

Re: I LOVE my Spider...
Hey! Good for you. It's great to hear from someone so exited about owning one of these Spiders.
I also got my car from Ebay, it was about 70 miles from me and I was able to look at it before I bought it, so I knew what I was getting. I've put about 25,000 miles on it in the four years I've had it and couldn't be more pleased with the purchase.
Congratulations.
Ron
