Where is the best place to get replacement carpet. I have found numerous sites selling around $300. Anyone have some real world experience with any. Quality? Edge stiching?

Re: Carpet
I went with carpeting from Lowes (as in hardware store). They have a cornrow style indoor outdoor carpet in tan, red, black and blue that are very similar to the stock carpeting if you want to keep that look (except for some slight variations in color). You can simply use your old carpet as a template, cut it out and take it to a carpet store to have the edges bound in a variety of different colors or manners.
The total cost of my carpet set that I made was about $90 for materials and labor. The "plush" carpet set that came with my 80 Spider was over $240 and is of lesser quality than the one I made for my 79 Spider. It slips and slides around because it is so thin, the backing is ineffective at stopping it from wrinkling and it doesn't fit right. Per the receipt, it was purchased by the prior owner at Bayless.
If you want other carpet styles, you can often find the materials at carpet stores. Most have a huge selection of colors and materials. You'll still need to cut it and have the edges bound.

Re: Carpet
I have made carpet paterns (off foster48x's pictures he posted here) in vector file format that any local sign shop should be able to plot out for you on paper.
They fit mine quite well. I cut them out & fit the paper before I cut any carpet & left things a little big in any questionable areas, then cut the carpet & trimmed it to fit better as I installed each piece.
I did the corn row type indoor/outdoor carpet that I got from a local carpet shop as HD & Lowes didn't have it in black, I think the carpet store stuff is a little sturdier too.
If you want the files drop me a e-mail & I'll send you the files, don.raugust@yahoo.com
