Time to Scream
I ordered and received a rebuilt 28/32 ADHA carb from O'Reillys Auto Parts (the only people who actually had a rebuilt in stock). They shipped a 32DATRA (a Fiat X19 carb). GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I checked the part number on the box against their website and it was correct. So....$64 in shipping later just to rush it here so I can get the car back on the road and it's the wrong part. So do they have one for the Spider in stock? Of course not. As it stands, I guess I won't be driving the Spider to the All Italian Show in Alameda now. The old carb can't be rebuilt. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Send me your address and I'll give you an ADHA that works. It needs a good cleaning but we just took it off of a running car. Pay for shipping (probably $25 priority mail at most) and you're golden.

Re: Time to Scream
Dang! Sorry to hear about that.
Unfortunately this kind of thing is pretty common when getting Fiat parts from generic sources. To them a Fiat is a Fiats is a Fiat. They are all the same, aren't they?
A few years ago I tried buying brake calipers from the local auto parts store, but they could never get the left/right correct, would always get the wrong side, even tho they ordered the correct one.
Then about ten years ago a got brake discs from a local parts place, and the way the inside was machined they would not fit flush on the hubs! I glad I noticed, as they went all the way on but for the last mm.

Re: Time to Scream
Unless your current carb is crushed or cracked or something similiar, it can almost certainly be rebuilt. Simple carbs. Or take up the generous offers!

One side of the float bowl "bracket" where the pivot rod for the carb float mounts is broken off. It isn't rebuildable.majicwrench wrote:Unless your current carb is crushed or cracked or something similiar, it can almost certainly be rebuilt. Simple carbs. Or take up the generous offers!

I am...he's sending pictures to ensure there's no difference between the top of the non-California ADHA and the California ADHA. One site also shows that the manual and auto transmission ADHAs had variations. Hopefully, the part will work!

Re: Time to Scream
You can swap the parts around on them. I sent you the pics, take a look; if they aren't clear (I shot them with a phone) I'll take some more with a camera. I also sent you the ID# of the carb.
I'd get a rebuild kit and redo the gaskets and the needle/seat. Easy work. The only thing "wrong" with this carb is the needle and seat need to be replaced as when it sits overnight fuel drains out the bowl. It probably is just an adjustment but if you're opening it to adjust then just replace the things. Otherwise it works just fine.
