Pacific Coast Hwy. run with the X-Web guys

Post by rlux4 »

The gang from X-web had a run from Santa Monica up the Pacific Coast Hwy and had an open invitation to us Spider guys to join them. The run went from Santa Monica, up the coast to Oxnard where we toured the Murphy auto museum. I forgot to take my camera into the museum. From there we went to a park for a BBQ and socializing. Krissy and I stopped at Tommy Mastraccio's (TommyClocks) on the way down for that last cup of coffee then he and his new bride Nancy and Krissy and I drove to the meet-up in caravan. I had the trailer on to carry the BBQ, cooler and chairs.

Here's the group of cars at the park.

The Positrano Yellow (sp?) car in the front of the picture is Gary Pogue's. If you're unfamiliar with this car, his dad bought it off the showroom floor in 1968 and they've owned it ever since. It's in amazing condition and always attracts a big group of admirerers.
Another shot of the cars at the park. Alvon (VenturaAce) drove his 500 (Prima Edizione #18) and let anyone who wanted drive it.

The tan Studebaker pick up is from the auto museum. We invited the docent there to join us for lunch.

The weather wasn't the greatest, foggy and a little cool, which might have kept a few people home, but a great time was had by all who did show up, which was about 6-7 X19s, three Spiders and a new 500. Pity the poor people who didn't make it, they missed having my world famous potato salad.

Because it was organized by the Xweb guys it sometimes doesn't get posted here. There's two ways to check for these get togethers, monitor the Xweb site (http://xwebforums.org/), or get on their email list. Give me your email address and I'll pass it along if you want.
Merkle Weiss hosts a Fiat club and has a run coming up in a couple of weeks. It starts from his place in the valley and usually ends with a BBQ. I can get you more info on this also, let me know if you're interested.

Sorry we missed you Nelson J. There will be another drive on Oct 9 in the mountain canyons above Glandale, Burbank area. Anybody interested, e-mail me or call me for details.

Also, there's the Best of France and Italy coming up November 6 in Woodley Park, Van Nuys California.
