Rlux4's '82
Rlux4's '82
Here's pictures of my '82. I was originally looking for a different color, but this one was in such good shape I went with it. Now, the red is kind of growing on me. The first thing I did on it was install the new top that came with it. I enjoy tinkering in the garage on days off, so I've gotten the dash and map lights working, and put a new inside door handle on the pasenger side. I'm in the process of putting a new heater control valve in, but have hit a snag, the bolts on the heater core broke off, so if Mark is right about them being welded in, it looks like I'll be doing some drilling and tapping.

Looks very nice. I had to paste the link manually though. All I see in your post is html. When I quoted your links the photos showed up in the preview. Wierd. Did anyone else see Rlux4's photos directly?rlux4 wrote:

Rlux4, now your links are different. You must have edited.
Thanks CarNut
I don't know what I did wrong that didn't get the pictures pasted in. So thanks for getting them for me. I guess I missed a step in Mark's instructions, and I even had my 18 year old son helping me!
Yeah, that was my son trying to help me, the pictures are in Flickr and he tried it with a different site. Don't know if I can change the links back.

more for CarNut
I'm confused. But that's not unusual. Anyway, thanks to you the pictures are here now. I'll do some studying and try to figure out what I did wrong. I did have comments with each picture in Flickr, but they didn't come through.
text addition
Thanks again CarNut. I guess I'm not as computer literate as I thought. I've never had to put pictures in anything but email before. so I'm still trying to get up to speed.
Wind?
Windy days? Yeahhh, now I remember why I spend all my time in the garage. When I first got here (from Washington state) in 1979 one of the first things I saw was a T-shirt with a guy holding on to a Joshua tree, being blown sideways, it said "Welcome to the Antelope Valley wind festival, Jan. 1 thru Dec. 31.
Did you get a chance to look at a heater core, I think you're right, it does look like those bolts are welded into the core. Good thing I have a tap and die set.
I think that dark red is because it was near sunset, I have another picture in full daylight and it does look reddish-orange.

Thanks for the nice comment on the car, but I try to stay away from the great lakes states during winter time. Here, the pictures were taken Dec. 2nd, and the temp. was around 72. So I don't think I'll be driving it over your way any time soon. I'd bet the car could take it, I'm not so sure about myself though! Thanks again, Ron
Yeah, you wanna stay away from this area today with your Fiat. Between the 1/2" of snow, and the 3/4" of salt sprayed about to melt the snow....things are basically leathal for a Spider right now. Sometimes, i think they spread about so much salt because they think it prevents more from falling.
However, my comment remains. I wouldn't mind having the opportunity to travel to where the winters are 72 degrees and meet nice Fiat folk.
