Rear end
Re: Rear end
Thank you for the info. Looks like parts are about $50 per side, so even with labor I really might get this done.
Re: Rear end
All the parts were $112 dollar shipped....so I bought them. Will be nicer to know that all 4 wheel bearings are brand new and I will not have that worry.
Re: Rear end
Bearing, retainer, inner seal, oring from IAP. should be here next week. Looks to be an easy job...unlike the pia rear shock I did tonight. Took me a few minutes to figure out to compress the spring and take the shock out the top of the spring.
Re: Rear end
Shocks...obviously yes......the bearings no. I removed both axles and will take to a shop to have the old bearings pressed off and the new one back on.
Re: Rear end
Okay,
I was wondering. I know they usually take a grinder and cut the race most of the way and hit it with a hammer and it comes off. I was wondering how you were going to press on the new races?
Since your doing the rear end. Are you going to check the bolts inside the pumpkin to make sure they are torqued correctly. I was told they sometimes loosen. I put on a new gasket and torqued to the specified amount. You know, that damn gasket keeps leaking just sitting there. I tightened the bolts again and it still leaks. I think I may have to drain it, take the cover off, and add gasket maker to the area. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Re: Rear end
When you say race...is that the retainer?
Also...I don't have enough to do and now you ask me about loose bolts in the pumpkin.....I will have nightmares tonight Just something else to add to the "to do" list. Appreciate the tip!

Re: Rear end
Yes the retainer. I thought it was called the race. LOL As I learn, I don't always remember the right terms.
I checked my bolts in the pumpkin and they were tighter than I could get them. Good thing is I know they're tight.
