Convertable top boot

Whats the secret for installing the Parade Boot on my 1980 spider so it don't flap like an old rag when i'm on the highway?

Do you have the straps that hook into holes down on the inner quarter panel wells? If you have the three mounting points (rear hook, front hook, and hold down strap) you've got what they came with. The older models had a much heavier material that isn't so prone to flapping. Mine (82) also waves around, but not terribly so I don't really mind it. If it drove me nuts I'd probably design another couple straps that would hook onto mates coming up between the back seat and the.... back seat back?

You could fit a small bungee to the middle of the drape to reduce flapping.

Assuming you have to mount your own hardware (as I did with my replacement from IAP), design some tension in.

Place the rear fish hooks (IAP's name) so that there is not a lot of loose material between them - indeed make it fairly taught.

Only after they have been placed, and with the boot in place, mark the places for the snaps. Again keeping the cover slightly taught.

And finally, when you attach the straps and hooks do the same. In fact I used snaps to attach the straps instead of sewing them on as was done on the original because that will allow me to readjust the tension if/when the fabric stretches.

Set up that way mine does not flap at all at the speeds I drive (55 to 65 mph on back roads).
