World upholstery convertible top
Anyone purchased a vinyl top from World Upholstery or have any other recommendations? Looks like their prices are quite a bit less than the Fiat vendors.

Re: World upholstery convertible top
I have one and here's my own opinion. Top score would be a 10
Black vinyl top purchased from World Upholstery
Price: 10
Speed of Delivery: 10
Overall fit: 9
Window bolsters: 2
Rear window plastic: 9
Ease of installation: 8
Overall quality of materials: 8
I am very satisfied with my top given the low price. It lacks the metal grommets where the side cables go through the top near the rear of the car. It hasn't been an issue on my car, but I don't put the top up and down much. It is usually down.
The weak spot is the window side bolsters that stop water leaks into the car. They are the same vinyl as the top and don't fit very well. I asked for additional padding to be sewn in and it works sufficiently to keep water out.

Re: World upholstery convertible top
I would give Germanex Tops some consideration, also.I bought one in Dec.,and the top is high quality.I posted pix of the installed top. They made a limited time deal to Spider owners, and quite a few took advantage. There were several in evidence at FFO,and everyone was happy.I have driven thru the worst rainstorm I have experienced in the Spider.I mean torrential!!!! Not a drop of water inside. A far cry from my previous 'leaky tepee'. I opted for vinyl, but the canvas is very nice also.

Re: World upholstery convertible top
Thanks for the information everyone, the price on the germanex web site looked very reasonable, don't necessarily want the cheapest top but if people are happy with them maybe there is no reason to spend more.
Re: World upholstery convertible top
Don't forget that you will probably need to replace the tensioner wires too and all the tops I looked at, they put them as an optional extra. The cheaper top retailers seemed to want more for the wire kits than those selling the dearer tops so perhaps need to add those into the mix when comparing prices ?

That is true, and you shouldnt pay a lot for them. You buy some cable at Home depot and a couple crimps and make your own for a few dollars!

Our installer didn't think highly of World Upholstery. Not horrible, but not near the top of the available options.
