Well...removed the rocker panels and found some rust at the rear wheel wells. Will all be ground out and rewelded. Getting ready to order parts for IAP, but before I do...looking for some input. This car will not be a street racer, just a nice lazy driver. I have the following to order...if anyone thinks and "upgrade" is worth it, please let me know

1. Wheel bearings for the front
2. New sway bar bushings
3. replacing the 4 control arms (as a unit with new bushings etc etc from IAP)
4. New front rotors (might as well since everything will be off)
5. Will cut the springs (1 coil).
6. Brake pads are like new, so will not be replacing.
7. All the shocks with GR1 and GR2 OEM style.

The rear calipers need replacing, but I will have to wait till next month....funds! I am not going to rebuild mine, just buy some already done.

well..since no input, ordered everything on the list. Went with another vendor than IAP. Next few weekends will be busy. Finished using phosphoric acid on all the floors to kill the surface rust. Need to paint the eastwood rust encapsulant this weekend or next.

An hour to remove the passenger side shock.....shocking! Had to removed the air filter box just to get good access to the top shock bolt...live and learn.

BUT...now that everything is off......someone point me to a TRUE cold air intake? I have searched the posts and really only seen cosmetic replacements for the stock air intake. All of the "cold" intakes seem to just take the warm engine air. The stock system actually seems better from a cold standpoint....just that the damn thing is UGLY!

Does it have color illustrations and pullouts? I have been looking for one. Midwest Bayless has one but I think it is $60 + shipping.

I replaced my stock FI intake with a K&N style cone filter. I also cut a hole in the radiator bulkhead and mounted a "dryer tube" in the hole so outside air would blow from the grill to the filter space. also thinking of adding a heat shield between the filter and the exhaust manifold.
I did what you are planning with the floor. remove tar, fix rust, paint, install stick-on rubber sound proofing pads. I still havent figured out a carpet underlayment yet.

All the tar is gone, then I used phosphoric acid to clean up the rust, then today painted with eastwood rust encapsulate. Also removed the passenger side control arms (that was fun!). Now researching how to clean up and improve the undercoating. Taking things very slow and trying to have fun.

The stuff from home depot is called "protecto wrap", its for sealing around doors & windows in home construction.
It's about 1/16" thick rubber membrane with a white plastic backing & is super sticky, comes in 6" or 9" rolls.
I put it on my floors & about 1-2" up the sides, should be totally waterproof now, I did cut the drain holes back in too.
Don't know how much sound deadening it does but should do some.

Then I put carpet padding I got from yourautotrim.com under my carpet, cover everywhere except tranny hump as the stock stuff was still good & left it in.

They also have the padding with a built in foil/heat top layer

I bought Eastwood thermocoustic barrier. I am then going to put carpet pad over that like docgraphics.

How many yards of the jute padding did you need?

I ordered 4 yards & it was plenty for all the floor boards & I have enough left over that you could do the tranny hump too.
