Electric Wave

Post by Zippy »

Will Fiat ever produce the Electric 500? I was driving around the other day and I saw another Nissan Leaf, that's 6 I've seen since the first on July 9th. I got this idea that it would be a nice way to acknowledge people who have made the choice to buy an electric car with a greeting or wave of some type. I came up with the idea of holding 3 fingers sideways in the shape of an E. Let me know what you think.

i like the idea of having a little portable van de graaf generator. you can put your hand on it when you see another driver and your hair will stand on end

Just be very careful what signs you throw out when around the LA area. That "East side" symbol might not go over too well when on the West side

When I first got my spider I looked into electrifying it. There's a company that sells a kit for small cars. All you need to send them is your trans bolt pattern and they send you the motor and such. It wasn't a terrible price, but I just didn't have the budget.

I like the idea of an electric waive but would discourage any hand gestures while driving the vehicle. Grew up on the East coast in Philly/NY and this would not be advisable in any form. So, no East coast or West coast hand gestures for personal safety reasons. Heck, I don't even flash my lights anymore to signal to another driver to go ahead or cop up ahead. Do you all recall the Florida gang murders related to flashing your headlights.

As far as the electric cars go. a lot of progress has been made in the last few years. I looked into converting a Spider to electric as well. The set up did not look too difficult. However, the battery life for a home project EV just did not work. I think it will be a few more years until the really good batteries are in a more affordable range. For now it is fun to go on a 75 mile out and back fun run in the hills in an old fasion ICE (internal combusion Engine) The EV does not support the afternoon outing.

Tesla... yes. leaf, smart, malibu, prius...No, No, No. The day will come soon when consumer demand support the capital and processes required for widespread EV sales and use. Note: I said consumer demand not an artificially supported Goverment project that tries to circumvent capital markets and profitable ventures.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

I'm looking forward to better batteries. Odds are, they already exist but big oil probably bought up all the patents.
