What is the best shop manual for a 79
Just wondering if anyone has a better shop manual than the standard downloadable version with the dark pictures. I'm going through the front suspension and the manual I downloaded and printed out is a but hard to use as a refrence as the pictures are so dark. Has anyone done a DIY for the control arms?

jack up the car from the ball joint dont block the shock you need the inner spring compresser "the 2 outter springcompresser is too big and dont fit"turn the right wheel left and the left wheel right when using the ball joint spreader
do the upper ball first then the lower, with the spring comperssed undo the upper arm bolt and remove, slowly lower the jack
and remember were all if any shims go on the bottom arm and undo the two nuts that hold it on

when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

I'd spring for the paper version from one of the vendors. I finally got it and it makes a huge difference in being able to actually see the pictures.

If you can find one, you want a Fiat factory manual from Fiat in Turin. It will be about an inch or so thick and have a blue cover with the fiat logo in white print about 3/4 inch tall. They were aimed at their own/ dealer workshop staff and consequently do refer to specialist tools for some jobs but pics are really clear.
2nd choice would be "Fiat 124 spider shop manual" put out by Import Parts America, Fiat Division. A white cover with black and red printing. About 1 & 1/4 inch thick.
A blue one would need to be hunted for, the white one is on ebay. I paid $49 4 years ago but was annoyed to see one sell on ebay a month or 2 back for $10.
Failing those, a Haynes is a better book than an Autobooks one
